Access To All Site Resources

Some of the resources and services on this site are protected by a system that relies on the IP from which a potential user attempts to access the site. The IP number is an Internet address. When anyone attempts to access protected pages, the user is diverted to a page that explains why access was denied. We are eager to provide access to all qualified users of this site and provide an address on the access page so that we can be contacted to include new IP numbers in our security system. In general, this site is available to anyone within the institutions with which Cindy or I are affiliated and to those at institutions requiring the use of one of our books. The commercial version of this site is maintained by Houghton-Mifflin and is available from their server (see home page of the site for access).

As stated on this page, our system will bounce back the IP number from which access was attempted. This number should be provided in you email request. The page students encounter when denied access also includes the email address for requesting that an IP number be added to the databbase.
