Graphic Representation of Multimedia Categories

Embellished Documents (upper-left) - This category refers to text documents that have been expanded to include other sources of information.

Linear Multimedia Presentations (upper-right) - Since you are probably familiar with slide presentations, it is convenient to describe linear multimedia presentations as computer-based slide shows. The learner experiences the material in a fixed sequence.

Hypermedia (lower) - The material is presented as non-linear, multimedia documents. The learner can exercise control over the order in which the learning material is experienced.
