Now for something a little different and definitely not from North Dakota. Our daughter Kim worked in Ketchikan, Alaska, for a summer and had some very unique experiences. We had an opportunity to visit and share some of these experiences with her. Here, we describe how to make jelly from fireweed.

 

It is October in North Dakota and fall in “the valley” brings the beet harvest. You can always tell when it beet season because of the sugar beets littering the road side. The trucks rumble night and day for a couple of weeks and then it is time for winter.
