Student Science and Outdoor Skills Camp
Logging Camp Ranch
AMIDON
June 21-25
Again this year we are asking the help of WILD teachers to recommend
students who would benefit from attending a science and outdoor skills camp.
The camp will be held at the Logging Camp Ranch, Amidon, June 21-25 for
coming seventh and eighth graders. We provide instructors and department
personnel who introduce students to North Dakota studies and earth science.
Curriculum
Subjects included in the week's curriculum include:
- Geology/Soils/Natural History (land and soil formation, fossils
and wildlife)
- Riparian Ecosystems (freshwater ecology, aquatics, fishing,
nature hikes, bird identification)
- Forest Ecology (trees, shrubs, succession, habitats)
- Range Ecology (prairies, flowers, grasses, domestic and wildlife
uses)
- Wildlife Management (habitat creation and enhancement, predation)
- Outdoor Skills (tracking, orienteering, trap shooting, archery)
- Astronomy (major constellations, mythology, night navigation,
portable planetarium)
- English (keeping a journal)
Camp is limited to the first 32 students.
