Throughout 1997, North Dakota OUTDOORS celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act, better know as the Pittman-Robertson Act. Since the law was passed in 1937, hunters have contributed more than $3 billion toward wildlife conservation and restoration in the United States.

Wildlife restoration dollars pay 75 percent of the cost of approved projects. State wildlife agencies pay the entire cost of these projects with funds from hunting license sales, and are then reimbursed 75 percent.
