What do you already know?


"A long-standing debate in U.S. education is whether schools should direct their efforts to teaching students how to think rather than what to think (p. 200 - Bruning, et al.).

Those supporting an emphasis on "how to think" promote learning "higher order thinking skills" (HOTS). Most frequently mentioned as examples are problem-solving and critical thinking. These are good examples of the terms we use as educators without really having to operationalize them. Provide your own explanations of what problem-solving and criticial thinking skills are. How are these skills different and how might they interact?
